Our Drainage System

With homes being built close together these days, there can be issues with water getting into the crawl spaces under the homes. Water under a home can cause mold which can cause health problems and lower the value of a home.

At Alexandria, Tim Mallon of Mallon Construction takes care of that by putting in a drainage system in for each home.

This photo shows a pit that was just dug for a new home in Alexandria. At the Alexandria site, there is river rock 10' to 12' below the surface and each pit is dug down to the river rock so it can easily handle any water that is directed to it.

4 inch flexible line is laid at the bottom of the footings on both sides and the back of each home, and if needed, in the front of the home.

Tim selects each place where he feels it is needed and a T is put in and pipe is brought up so that the downspout can empty into the drainage system.

When you look at homes where so much of your hard earned money goes, look and see if the builder is thinking about the issues and damage water under a house can cause.

I am the developer of Alexandria, and I envisioned a unique and special neighborhood with homes that were also unique and very nicely built. I was pleased to find a builder that already thought that way and every home he builds here has been given all the attention needed to hold its value and be as problem free as one could reasonably expect.

The drainage system is one example of that. We will be showing other examples over the next few weeks.
